GRIMESLAND, N.C. (WITN) - Valerie Conger, owner of “Your Perfect Day” florist says with the number of people rescheduling weddings now that COVID-19 restrictions have been loosened for those fully vaccinated, her business is as busy as it’s ever been.

“Last month was insane. We did 17 weddings last month. And I think in April, we had about 15 weddings. So between April and May, we did around 30 weddings,” said Conger when asked about their spring wedding calendar.

According to the Wedding Wire website, more than 50% of weddings in 2020 were postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. This affected businesses like florists who benefit from wedding seasons.

Now that restrictions are lifted, wedding photography and DJ businesses are benefiting from the resurgence of weddings.

Pegasus Weddings & Events owner, Stephen Bastian, says he has so many wedding engagements that were rescheduled, his calendar for next year is just about full.

“They postponed ‘til October because they figured it would be over by then. Then it wasn’t. Now they’re scrambling for dates in 2021. I’m booking into 2022. I’ve got two this weekend that are rescheduled from last year,” said Bastian.

The advice from both business owners for those who are rescheduling or planning their weddings is to book and confirm any services that you find available and reasonable in price, because of how fast dates are filling up.
