GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) -While we have certainly seen the pandemic ease in recent months, for some, the need for a little extra help continues.

The Memorial Baptist Church in Greenville gave out food Tuesday to meet that need.

The food bank at the church provides food to families every 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month.

Organizers say during the height of the pandemic they saw close to 170 families come in during each giveaway, but now they have around 60 families come in.

Organizers say there is still a big need for assistance to help families in our area.

Pat Tesh, Chairman of the Memorial Baptist Church says, “We hope to serve the community and put food on the table where there would not be otherwise. We hope it puts money in people’s pockets so they don’t have to expend all of their living on just the food.”

The food bank at the Memorial Baptist Church is currently seeking donations such as canned food and zip lock bags. If you would like to donate you can drop off materials at the church located off of Greenville Boulevard.
