This is one of the former president’s first speaking events since leaving the White House. Many of the party faithful like California Republican Delegate and North Carolina native, Brian Hawkins, are hoping Trump’s speech will strengthen the unity in the party.

“Obviously there’s a division within the party right now, and we’re trying to really bring it together. You know you have so many different ideologies, but given the fact that you know, President Trump really did bring a strong voice. A strong will of fighting for the American people. It’s time for us to really get back to some of those core principles.,” said Hawkins.

They are calling it the “Day of Action”, and will be phone banking to raise awareness about COVID-19 vaccinations in 20 counties with low vaccination rates, as well as going door to door asking for support in the American Rescue Plan.

Kristi Noem the Governor of South Dakota will also be speaking at the convention on Saturday at the Congressional Lunch at noon.
