Soaking Rain for ENC Memorial Day Weekend
Outdoor plans fine Monday but tracking rain beforehand.
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A cold front is sliding through the eastern half of the country. This’ll drop our temperatures to ten plus degrees below normal for Sunday. This boundary will also push much-needed rain through ENC.
We’ll have rain on and off all through Saturday with storms picking up in strength and coverage after 6pm. Greenville, Kinston, Jacksonville and north will get 1-2 inches of rain from these storms while New Bern and our SE towns will most likely get under an inch. This rain will put a dent in our rainfall deficit and help our farmers as they continue to deal with drought conditions.
Strong winds and heavy downpours are expected with the storms on Saturday, especially Saturday evening. You’ll be fine (and comfortable) outside on Monday for Memorial Day but for Saturday and then Sunday AM, you’ll want to have a Plan B for any outdoor plans. After the rain exits on Sunday, temperatures will noticeably cool and humidity will drop dramatically. The AC will get a great so open up your windows and let in some fresh air Sunday evening and Monday morning.
