Suspected heroin trafficker held on $1.5 million bond

CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man suspected of trafficking heroin from his New Bern home is being held on a $1.5 million bond.

Craven County deputies and New Bern police raided Ismail Bryant’s home on Alabama Avenue. There they found trafficking amounts of heroin, along with drug paraphernalia.

The 50-year-old Bryant, who also goes by the name of Shelton Lofton, is charged with felony trafficking heroin, two felony counts of possession with intent to manufacture sell/deliver heroin, felony maintaining a vehicle for the sell of heroin, felony maintaining a residence for the sell of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies say Bryant has multiple felony drug convictions that date back to the 1990s.
