KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - An arrest has been made in Monday’s bank robbery in Kinston.

Kinston police say Joseph Gardner, Jr. was caught in Harnett County.

The 42-year-old Snow Hill man was developed as a suspect in the hold up at First Flight Credit Union on North Herritage Street and police put out an alert for the man and his vehicle.

A state trooper spotted his vehicle this morning and the trooper conducted a traffic stop. They say Gardner ran from the vehicle but was quickly captured.

He is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

There were four employees inside the bank at the time of the robbery but no one was injured, according to police.

A records check shows Gardner has multiple convictions for common law robbery from Greene and Pitt counties.

Kinston police are investigating a reported robbery at a bank Monday morning.

Kinston Police Chief Tim Dilday confirmed to WITN that it happened at the First Flight Federal Credit Union on North Herritage Street, which is located in the Kinston Plaza Shopping Center, around 9:30 a.m.

Police say four employees were inside at the time of the robbery, while none of them were injured.

Police have yet to release surveillance photos of the bank robbery.
