GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The city of Greenville has a new budget focusing on economic and infrastructure developments.

Mayor PJ Connelly posted his “State of the City” address on Facebook Thursday detailing future improvements.

City Council approved a $403 million spending plan.

It includes updates to areas in West Greenville, Uptown, and ECU’s upcoming Millennial Campus.

Pedestrian safety improvements are also a top concern within the budget.

Connelly says, “Our city is still on a great trajectory. There is a lot of positive energy in Greenville. Our growth and prosperity are evident in every new construction or detour.”

The improvement plan comes after the city took an $8 million revenue hit caused by COVID-19 related setbacks.

Other investments include the replacement of Greenville’s 48-year old community pool and updates at the Eppes Recreation Center.
