UPDATE: Deputies looking for Beaufort County shooting suspect

Beaufort County deputies say they are looking for a man who shot a 20-year-old on Monday morning.

According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported hearing a noise in his home. When he went to look, there was an intruder holding a gun. Deputies say the intruder fired a shot, which struck the victim in the leg.

Investigators say the intruder is described as a thin black man, about 6′1″, with short hair. After he fired the shot, he ran away.

We aren’t sure of the victim’s condition at this time.

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Deputies are investigating the shooting of a man late Monday morning outside of Washington.

Deputies say the man was shot at a home on Mansfield Road, that’s in the Sherwood Forest Subdivision.

The 20-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Deputies say the investigation is ongoing.
