Matt's World of Weather - FishingCast & Ms. Emily

It will be an interesting weekend for fishing mainly due to the influences of Emily in the Atlantic. We will be dodging showers and thunderstorms even before Emily has a chance to make an appearance. That being said, baring the thunderstorms you should be able to get your hook in the water.

Any passionate angler will enjoy the bit of rain we may get Friday and Saturday. I have been told that a little rain will help increase the number of bites on a given day. Would anyone like to second this? The rain chances won't be from Emily, rather, a lingering boundary across the state. Take the hot temperatures, add more than enough moisture, place around an unstable boundary and come mid afternoon you've got yourself some rain chances...and hopefully a fat flounder biting at your live finger mullet.

Temperatures will cool to the low 90s, but the humidity will be pushing the heat index above 95°. Wave heights will begin increasing Sunday evening and depending how close Emily gets, we could see some rough seas.

Speaking of wave heights, the graphic in the video is an output from a weather model from Wednesday afternoon. I thought I would include it just to give you a perspective of where parts of the forecast come from. This particular wave height graphic comes off of the GFS model. Keep in mind this image will change dramatically over the next couple of days as new data comes in and Emily's track is adjusted.

Good luck this weekend if you are hitting the water…and be sure to be safe out there!

Information ranging from sea heights as well as wind speed/direction can be found in the video portion. Otherwise, please feel free to add your comments or suggestions about fishing in the east. There is a lot of water out there that will likely turn up different results.

You can add your "Nice Catch" to Carolina Camera as a picture or post your weekend catch as a comment right here. Good luck and keep an eye on the bobber.
