Is that a Red Spot?

Short and sweet this week with the Holiday Starcast. While some will come away with red spots on their favorite white shirts, I will provide the times for a red spot that tends to always be there...even with ample Shout Wipes/Tide Pens/Clorox Bleach Pens. The Great Red spot of Jupiter has been churning away for at least 350 years (probably much longer). Like high pressure on Earth, the massive storm spins clockwise around the center. The size can engulf three planet Earths and has winds pushing 268 mph (Category 5 hurricane, 156mph) blowing around the center.

Saturday- 5:08am
Sunday- 8:51pm

*At least a three inch telescope is needed to see the spot. Anything smaller and you won't be able to resolve the object.*

Hopefully the skies will remain clear if you find yourself outside this weekend. If not, maybe the red nose of Mr. Rudolph will help to navigate you through the clouds and to the stars.
