BOGUE INLET PIER: "We Hope To Rebuild"

The Bogue Inlet Pier at Emerald Isle has collapsed during the pounding surf delivered by Hurricane Irene. The pier's website says at least 200 feet of the pier is gone.

A curfew is in effect immediately for all of Beaufort County. Interim County Manager Jim Chrisman says it runs through noon Sunday.

REPORTS: Man Jumped Into Cape Fear River

New Hanover County spokesman Charles Smith said three men reported a man jumped into the Cape Fear River at the Castle Hayne Boat Ramp at Orange Street around 12:30 Saturday morning.
