At 10:00 am Saturday Tomas was located at 20.8 north and 72.8 west with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. Movement of Tomas was to the northeast at 13 mph.
Tomas grazed Haiti on Friday with gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Tomas should continue on a northeast track for the next 24 hours as a category 1 hurricane. The storm will be moving away from Haiti Friday night and Saturday. A strong front moving off the East Coast of the United States should keep Tomas well off our coastline.
