Towns, Residents Still Struggling One Month After Irene

Hurricane Irene recovery efforts are slow going in areas like Aurora in Beaufort County, hit hard by the hurricane one month ago.

The debris collection site in town has filled a city block with what one man described as "a lot of history." The town itself had seven buildings damaged and leaders have kept a close eye on Congress to make sure FEMA has the funds to help the town recover.

Some residents, like Ted Overton, fear it could be years before things are back to normal. Overton left his house when it started to take a beating and rode out the storm for ten hours in his boat. While he survived, hit house is gone. Now he lives out of a camper trailer while he tries to get his life back together.
