TYRRELL COUNTY: 5 Homes Destroyed; Curfew Enacted

Tyrrell County and the town of Columbia have enacted a curfew because of the storm.

The curfew will start at 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday. If conditions persist it may be extended.

Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported on WITN that "We had tornadoes, 5 homes destroyed and a business suffered serious damage."

Liverman told us that Highway 64 is closed in Columbia because of downed power lines. The county is experiencing minor flooding and most of the county is without power as of 750am. He advised residents of Tyrrell County to stay home and ride it out until the storm is over.

The Sheriff told WITN that phone lines are down as well as many residents are experiencing power outages.
