TROOPERS: Weather Blamed For Morning School Bus Accident

Heavy rain is being blamed for a school bus accident this morning during Tropical Storm Andrea.

The Highway Patrol says fortunately none of the 32 children on the Bertie County Schools bus were injured.

The accident happened just before 8:00 a.m. on Highway 42 between Trap and Colerain.

Troopers say the driver told them it was raining heavy at the time and the bus hydroplaned. The bus ended up in a ditch on the left side of the road.

Another bus came and took the children to Colerain Elementary School.

Troopers say charges are pending against the bus driver, 41-year-old Jacquelind Sessons.
