5:00 PM Update: Emily Downgraded

At 5:00 p.m. Thursday, the trough of low pressure that was once Tropical Storm Emily was located at 19.0 north and 75.0 west. This puts the storm about 90 miles south of Port Au Prince, Haiti, or about 780 miles SE of Miami. Maximum sustained winds were holding near 40 mph with higher gusts. There is still a large area of thunderstorm activity, but the main circulation related to Emily has dissipated.

There is still a chance Emily will reemerge as a tropical storm on the other side of Cuba and Haiti. If this happens, the track of the storm would be roughly 200 miles offshore Monday morning.

why are you people getting off track and talking about things that have nothing to do with tropical low emily?? just saying. I think we need the rain so I hope we get that but I do not want the rest of what a hurricane has to offer.

too bad if this becomes a hurricane, i understand everybody wants rain but too much too fast is worse than this drought we are in.

Too bad; farmers could use the rain and OBXers could use some insurance money. Also local contractors and laborers would benefit if more sand is needed to build up the wealthy folks beach fronts. Tsk,tsk.

Too bad you had to post that libterdial nonsense. Do you work? You work for one of those wealthy folks that pays you checks or you work for the government that the those wealthy pay money to. Stop kidding yourself, class envy guy, no one works for a poor man.

A little rain and wind would be nice with some cooler temps, no damage though. May we all be blessed in some way. Good luck to all.

I hope all the projections are wrong about it recurving out. I'm sick of watering of my beds. I miss the summers when it would rain just often enough where I didn't have to use the hose on a regular basis.

You sleep in those wet beds ? Sounds like it might be a good way to cool off without AC !!

Well, Mindy is just trying to be prepared to protect property as the NWS recommends. Its not just the flooding, its the corinthian leather seats and the high tech navigation instruments that can be damaged at the helm.

Mindy who the * cares about your personal life? This is about Tropical Storm Emily, lol. Anyway, hopefully this will fade out before it hits the East Coast..

WE have spent most of the summer on our beautiful cabin cruiser. . . thankfully we are traveling to Baltimore on Friday and plan to be docking on the shore there. (We have family in Baltimore) so hopefully this time we will not have to transport it to our storage station in Raleigh. WE have to get it serviced soon anyway for winter believe it or not!!
