REPORTS: Man Jumped Into Cape Fear River

New Hanover County spokesman Charles Smith said three men reported a man jumped into the Cape Fear River at the Castle Hayne Boat Ramp at Orange Street around 12:30 Saturday morning.

The man was seen once since he jumped in the river, but has not been seen since.

Fire and rescue crews have tried to coordinate a rescue. A marine unit was requested, but it was concluded that it is was not safe for those crews to be on the water during the storm.
