Perdue Heading To White House For Hurricane Prep

Gov. Beverly Perdue is meeting with President Barack Obama on the first day of the official hurricane season.

Perdue is going to the White House on Wednesday to participate in the president's annual briefing on the hurricane forecast. Perdue and other state and local officials will discuss hurricane preparedness.

Perdue's office said Crime Control and Public Safety Secretary Reuben Young, state emergency management Director Doug Hoell (hoyle) and New Hanover County emergency management Director Warren Lee also will attend the briefing.

Federal government forecasters expect three to six major hurricanes during the Atlantic storm season. No major hurricane has made U.S. landfall in five years.

What a waste. If she does not know how to prepare her office to deal with Hurricanes in this state by now then there is no hope. Washington should be coming here to learn! And what are they going to discuss that cant be covered in a phone conference or teleconference. Thats why they have all that equipment. What a joke. Have a nice trip Bev. If you decide not to come back we understand.

I believe it was Italy who just charged a group of siesmologist with manslaughter because they failed to predict an earthquake that killed 300 people a couple years ago. How insane is that? I guess my point is we need to stop putting so much faith in people that are trying to predict what mother nature has in store for us. When it comes to natural disasters, they are almost always unpredictible. A hurricane prep meeting is a big waste of time and money. Lets have earthquake, volcano, meteor and blackhole prep meetings while we are at it.

"No major hurricane has made U.S. landfall in five years." Really!?! Five years? Those of us down here in Texas endured a massive hurricane just a few years back in 2008. Check your facts.

With just those two windbags together in the same room will be enough to generate the first major hurricane.
