NCDOT: Ocracoke-Hatteras Ferry To Run Continuously

MANNS HARBOR (AP) - The N.C. Department of Transportation is running round-the-clock service on its Ocracoke-Hatteras ferry run in response to a voluntary evacuation order issued by Hyde County in advance of Tropical Storm Arthur.

Officials also announced Wednesday that tolls on the Ocracoke-Cedar Island and Ocracoke-Swan Quarter ferry runs will be waived until the evacuation order is lifted.

Service will continue until weather conditions make it unsafe to operate.

As of Wednesday afternoon, all North Carolina Ferry Routes are running their published schedules. However, The Ferry Division expects brief service interruptions as Tropical Storm Arthur proceeds up the North Carolina Coast, starting Thursday afternoon on the southern routes and lasting into the afternoon Friday on the most northern routes.

A tropical storm warning is in effect for parts of the North Carolina coast.
