Prepare Now for Emergencies Visit Site
The State Insurance Commissioner has opened assistance centers in Eastern Carolina for residents to talk with representatives face to face.
Since Irene, Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin says his office has been receiving calls from residents unhappy with their insurance companies and their adjusters.
Monday a center opened in New Bern at the North Carolina Department of Insurance regional office on Commerce Drive. It will remain open Tuesday from 8am-5pm.
A center in Dare County will open Tuesday at the dare county Board of Commissioner's meeting room in Manteo.
A third center will open on Hatteras Island at the Salvo Fire Department on Wednesday from 9am-5pm.
Representatives from the insurance commissioners office, the national flood insurance program and FEMA will be on hand to meet with people.
Goodwin says they will keep the centers open longer if they see a great need.
