HERTFORD COUNTY: State Of Emergency, Some Evacuations

Hertford County has implemented a state emergency.

A curfew will go into effect from 8:00 pm Saturday August 27, 2011 until 6:00 am Sunday morning for all of Hertford County.

Wine, Beer and Alcohol sales will stop at 10:00 pm Friday and resume on Sunday at 1:00 pm.

There is a mandatory evacuation of the following areas: Tunis, Cotton Island, Leisure Shores, and Arrow Road.

A shelter for Hertford County citizens will be opening at Hertford County High School at 7:00 pm on Friday August 26, 2011. Please bring blankets, needed medical supplies and personal items including food for at least three days. Anyone with a special medical need must be accompanied by a caregiver at all times during their stay at the shelter.
