The Civil Air Patrol in Greenville is receiving a presidential award for handing out food, water, and tarps after Hurricane Irene.
Ten cadets between the ages of 12 and 18-years-old, along with six senior members, went to Hyde and Beaufort Counties to assist.
The Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer auxiliary of the United States Air Force and trains teens in emergency disaster, among other skills.
Since this was a federal declared disaster, this award comes from the top--through the governor's office.
Those teens got their ribbons Tuesday night at the National Guard Armory, while Captain Dave Nelson received a commander's commendation.
