Evacuations for Irene mean many people are cutting short their vacations, and that is bad news for motels and other businesses in the area.
At the Palm Suites hotel in Atlantic Beach they asked visitors to be gone by tomorrow morning and they are not accepting anymore reservations until Monday when they say they will reevaluate after the storm.
That is the case for many hotels and other businesses in the area. Many were battening down the hatches Thursday and boarding up in preparation for the storm.
