Emerald Isle Bridge Open To People With Permits

The bridge to Emerald Isle is now open. Town officials say people with re-entry permits started crossing the bridge 9 a.m. Sunday. Emerald isle will re-open to everyone at 1 p.m. You will not need a re-entry permit at that time.

The Atlantic Beach bridge is not open right now, so the only way to get to Emerald Isle at this time is the Emerald Isle bridge.

Power has been restored to most homes in Emerald Isle that are served by the main transmission line that crosses the bridge. These homes are generally in western area of town. Crews are working hard to restore power to the homes served by the main transmission line that comes into Emerald Isle from the east along Bogue Banks.

Beach erosion was not catastrophic but there was dune erosion along most of Bogue Banks.
