ECU Employee In Dominican Republic Not Overly Concerned With T.S. Emily

One couple from the east may get a glimpse of Tropical Storm Emily several days before the rest of us could.

Gregg Lowe is an East Carolina University employee who's vacationing in the Dominican Republic. Tracking maps show the tropical storm southeast of the island nation with a projected track across neighboring Haiti.

Lowe says, so far, the storm threat isn't hampering his vacation. "Well there's been some concern among the guests. Of course the staff is doing everything they can to keep everyone calm. Being from Eastern NC we've seen a few storms so we kind of figured when we saw the track where the storm was going we'd be fine."

    That's because eating tainted food/water, getting robbed/raped or being swindled is much more of a concern in the DR.
