Currituck County Shelter Opens At 7:00 P.M.

More flooding from Hurricane Sandy has Currituck County opening up a shelter.

The Department of Social Services office on Caratoke Highway will open at 7:00 p.m. Those needing transportation to the shelter should call 911.

Anyone coming to the shelter should bring all necessary personal items with them, including bedding, food, medicines, etc. Alcohol and pets are not allowed in the shelter.

The county says the DSS shelter is a temporary operation meant to provide a dry, safe accommodation for residents in need of relief from the storm.
