The city of New Bern continues to clean up debris around the city from Hurricane Irene.

Crews were cleaning up National Avenue throughout the day Wednesday closing down portions of the road for a time.

This is just part of the city's effort to get things back to normal.

The city is asking residents and businesses within city limits to stack their debris on the side of the road in piles that are 5-feet in length and pieces that are no larger than 5-inches in diameter.

Crews were also out trying to restore electricity to the 25-percent of city customers who are still without power.
