Coastal Visitor Centers Closed As Hanna Approaches

All park visitor centers in Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Wright Brothers National Memorial have been closed until further notice.

The National Park Service announced Friday that all park
campgrounds in Cape Hatteras National Seashore were closed Friday
morning. The reservation system for Ocracoke Campground has been
temporarily suspended.

Authorities closed the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Thursday
afternoon. All ocean-side beach access for off-road vehicles in
Cape Hatteras National Seashore closed early Friday afternoon. The
time correlated to the high tides and expected severe coastal storm
surge flooding. Pedestrian access is allowed.

All remaining non-essential staff for Cape Hatteras, Fort
Raleigh, and Wright Brothers were released Friday afternoon, while
all essential incident command staff and law enforcement personnel
remained on duty.
