The American Red Cross in Pitt County held training sessions Thursday for volunteers that may be needed during Tropical Storm Hanna
The volunteers have been getting a crash course to work in emergency shelters -- if and when they open.
Amanda Rodney -- the interim emergency service director says they're ready if Hanna comes, although they hope to have more people come out to volunteer.
The American Red Cross has a new piece of equipment to help during a disaster. A new emergency response vehicle or IRV which can serve food and carry cleaning supplies to the scene.
