Hurricane Earl, Now Is The Time To Prepare

With potential impacts from Hurricane Earl later this week, now is a good time to prepare and put together a hurricane kit.

You can pick up the items at home improvement stores and other retail outlets.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, also known as NOAA, has a hurricane safety checklist.

Some of the items you'll want to have include water, non-perishable foods, flashlights, batteries, radio, first-aid kit, tools personal items and waterproof containers.

You can find a full list of items to have in a hurricane safety and survival kit by heading to our hurricane page.

Golly, gosh, gee wiz......I sure wish Mindy would pop in and let us know that her beach property made it through okay. I didn't sleep a wink last night worrying about it. Bless her heart.

TO MINDY: You make me want to not read or post on these forums EVER!! You are a poor excuse for a human being, all you know how to do is BRAG. No one gives a hoot if your boat gets messed up in a hurricane! I feel sorry for very few people that have houses or boats, or whatever messed up in a hurricane! That's a chance you have to take by living at the coast, and yes, RICH people live at the coast and can afford to keep re-building time and time again. It should be illegal to have houses built so close to the water, people are just asking for it, and stuff like this is what makes everyone else's insurance too expensive. Just like all the poor souls that live in tornado alley...not exactly brilliant!! Or the ones in California that had the bright idea of building right on a fault line, their own fault in my opinion, no one made you live there...

To Earl the Pearl: Hurricanes are like men. Days and days of hype, rarely live up to their own build-up, and you have to clean up after them. Instead of a T-bone I think I'll have quiche.

Although Marvin doesn't state it in his desktop weather, it looks like the path shifed west overnight. Anybody else see that trend? So many in the past have done just that.
