Flood-weary residents in Missouri, Arkansas and Ohio fought to save their homes Friday after heavy rainstorms pushed rivers over their banks, and a fresh snowstorm blew through parts of the Upper Midwest.
The storms that moved through Eastern Carolina last night brought us rainfall but did not do the extensive damage that they did for our friends to the south.
NOAA says the average temperature for winter in the United States was 33.2 degrees Farenheit. While that temperature was slightly above average, it made the season the coldest on record since 2001 and the 54th coldest since 1895 - the year national records started.
