On and off quick downpours will be possible through Sunday afternoon. Heavier rain could bring another 1 to 3 inches of rain to a few locations late Sunday and into Monday afternoon.
Some icing may develop in some far inland communities near and west of Interstate 95 around midnight or shortly thereafter. The counties included are Wilson, Nash, Edgecombe, Northampton and Halifax counties. Light freezing rain will likely develop as temperatures fall to near freezing through early Tuesday morning. Traveling near and west of Interstate 95 is not recommended overnight through noon on Tuesday. Temperatures will be above freezing by noon Tuesday in the advisory area.
Icing is not expected for the remainder of eastern Carolina.
