A weak cold front will drift into eastern Carolina Wednesday afternoon causing an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity. Some of the storms could become strong to severe, with the main threat being gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall. The showers will diminish Wednesday night with clearing skies after midnight.
