It has bee a warm and wet summer across much of eastern North Carolina. Most communities along and east of Interstate 95 are fairly wet and the current weather pattern will maintain that trend. A cold front will stall near the North Carolina/Virginia border on Tuesday enhancing the shower threat. Locally heavy rainfall is likely from some of the storms with some communities receiving in excess of 2 inches by the end of the week. High temperatures will not be as hot this week due to the increased cloud cover and showers. Highs will generally be in the middle to upper 80s both inland and on the beaches.
