A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7am on Saturday for Beaufort, Mainland Hyde, Martin, Outer Banks Dare, Tyrrell, Washington and western Dare County. The threats are black ice and slick roadways.
Strong storms are moving through parts of Eastern Carolina.
Quarter-sized hail and winds in excess of 58 miles per hour are possible with these storms.
Pitt County officials say Forlines Road is closed between Frog Level and Speight Seed Farm Road because of trees down. Hail was reported east of Ayden.
