Tropical Storm Develops And Moves Out To Sea

The third named tropical system of the season developed well east of New England and is moving rapidly away from the United States. The storm's maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph on Wednesday afternoon with a small increase in wind speed possible. At 11 a.m. Wednesday Chris was centered about 600 miles south of Cape Race, Newfoundland, and was moving east near 22 mph.
