Hot and humid conditions will continue across the area on Thursday. Highs will reach the middle to upper 90s inland and upper 80s on the beaches. The high temperatures, combined with moderate to high relative humidity levels, will cause heat indices to reach 105° during the afternoon in most communities away from the coast. A heat advisory has been issued across much of eastern Carolina. A few thunderstorms may develop during the afternoon but most locations will remain free of rain. Temperatures may approach 100° by the weekend.
