Temperatures will stay hot with highs reaching the low to mid 90s. Heat index values will reach the upper 80s Monday afternoon.
The cold front will approach the region on Tuesday. The presence of the front and increasing moisture will lead to a good coverage of showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon hours. Strong to severe storms will be possible with the primary risk being wind gusts up to 60 mph.
A good chance of showers will hang on into Wednesday morning before quieter conditions build in late Wednesday into Thursday. Highs behind the front will dip to the low to mid 80s Wednesday through Friday.
