The heat will be turned up a notch on Saturday afternoon across eastern Carolina. Sunshine combined with a light westerly wind will send temperatures into the lower 90s inland and upper 80s on the beaches. Skies will be mostly sunny although clouds may increase late in the day with a stray shower or storm.
The western half of our state will experience some showers on Saturday afternoon and a few of them will likely drift into our area during the evening or overnight. There will be a much better chance for scattered storms by Sunday and Labor Day as highs reach the middle to upper 80s.
