A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7am on Saturday for Beaufort, Mainland Hyde, Martin, Outer Banks Dare, Tyrrell, Washington and western Dare County. The threats are black ice and slick roadways.
Another surge of frigid air will move into eastern Carolina Friday. Temperatures will plunge to the middle teens by sunrise with wind chills near 5°. Despite lots of sunshine most locations will not get out of the 20s Friday afternoon with wind chills in the teens. Slightly warmer temperatures can be expected over the weekend with highs in the 40s. Dry conditions will continue through the weekend.
