A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7am on Saturday for Beaufort, Mainland Hyde, Martin, Outer Banks Dare, Tyrrell, Washington and western Dare County. The threats are black ice and slick roadways.
High pressure centered off the East Coast will continue to give a warm southwesterly flow of air to eastern North Carolina. Afternoon highs will hit the upper 80s on Wednesday, except for upper 70s to lower 80s on the beaches. Skies will be mostly sunny during the afternoon with just a few small clouds. Little change in the weather pattern is expected for the end of the week and weekend. Afternoon highs will reach close to 90°, with overnight lows in the middle to upper 60s. The beaches will be a bit cooler with highs in the lower 80s. The next chance for thunderstorms will be Monday.
