A winter weather advisory has been issued for all of eastern Carolina except Carteret, Onslow, and Duplin counties through 4am Friday. Rain and light sleet continues to fall through the area. Temperatures are still about freezing.
High pressure just off the East Coast will bring a hot west to southwest wind across eastern Carolina on Friday. Afternoon highs will reach the lower 90s inland and lower to middle 80s along the beaches. Skies will remain mostly sunny throughout the day.
A weak disturbance will bring partly cloudy skies with a slight risk of a shower on Saturday. Temperatures will not be quite as hot with highs in the middle 80s.
Mother's Day promises to be mostly sunny with highs in the middle to upper 80s. Only a stray shower or storm is possible.
The beaches will be warm over the weekend with lows in the upper 60s and highs in the lower 90s. Skies will be partly cloudy both Saturday and Sunday.
