A winter storm warning is in effect today for Beaufort, Dare, mainland Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell and Washington counties. A winter storm advisory is in effect today for the rest of Eastern Carolina. The threats are snow, sleet and freezing rain.
More heat can be expected for eastern Carolina over the next few days. A weak cold front will drop into the area early Thursday and could trigger a few showers through mid afternoon. Any activity will be isolated on Thursday as afternoon highs hit the mid to upper 80s. Temperatures will continue to hover around 90° during Labor Day Weekend with only a stray shower or two on Saturday and Sunday. A cold front will approach the area by Labor Day giving us a better chance for showers and storms by Tuesday.
