Scattered Thunderstorms for Eastern Carolina

Strong thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty winds continue to impact the area this afternoon. Some may become severe, but the biggest threat into the evening will be heavy downpours.

Water spouts will once again be possible along the Outer Banks with any passing thunderstorm. At this time, Kill Devil Hills has reported over 3" of rain today.

The threat of thunderstorms will diminish after sunset with lingering showers through the overnight hours. The atmosphere will begin to settle and rain chances will decrease by this weekend.
