Rain Showers Just Around The Corner

Rain clouds and a possible thunderstorm or two will be the story for Tuesday's weather. A large mass of showers moving up from the southeast will start to soak eastern North Carolina in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The rain will continue throughout the day, potentially causing minor localized flooding. This flooding will be most likely in areas with poor drainage.

There is a chance for a thunderstorm to develop in the afternoon. Temperatures will be considerably warmer Tuesday when compared to Monday's highs. This warming, coupled with pre-frontal instability in the atmosphere, could produce some thunder, strong winds and an outside chance of a tornado.

The rest of the week is looking dry with partly to mostly sunny skies. Highs will be a bit cooler, but the lack of rain and plethora of sun should keep eastern Carolina residents smiling.
