Hot With A Few Thunderstorms Across Eastern North Carolina On Friday

More heat and high relative humidity can be expected across the area on Friday. Highs will top out in the lower 90s but the heat index will hit the upper 90s. There will be a few thunderstorms by the afternoon although the risk is only about 30%. More of the same can be expected on Saturday. Smoke will continue to be a problem for some communities east of Highway 17. Jones, Craven and Pamlico will see the most impact with a Code Red for air quality. Other locations will see lesser amounts of smoke.
