A weak cold front will become stationary across eastern North Carolina this afternoon giving us a good chance for showers and thunderstorms.
The most likely time for the storms will come during the afternoon and evening, with some locally heavy rainfall possible. Like the storms on Friday, heavy rain and frequent lightning will be the primary threat.
Highs will hit the upper 80s to around 90° inland with heat index values in the middle 90s. Beaches may see a shower late in the afternoon with temperatures holding in the middle 80s.
Most of the rain showers will end by Sunday morning leaving a dry and hot forecast for the end of the weekend.
