Freeze Warning For Parts Of The East

A Freeze Warning has been issued for parts of eastern Carolina. Despite everyone seeing cold temperatures tonight, mainland Tyrrell, Hyde and Dare county are still in their growing season. Light winds, clear skies and a dry atmosphere will allow temperatures to tumble to the 30s this evening and eventually the upper 20s Sunday morning.

The freeze warning will be in effect from midnight until 8am Sunday morning for mainland Dare, Hyde and Tyrrell county.

Time/Temp:
8pm: Mid 30s
11pm: Low 30s (near freezing)
Overnight: Upper 20s inland, low 30s coast

Freeze warnings are issued for locations that will see freezing temperatures and are still in the growing season. A large portion of eastern Carolina has seen their growing season come to an end, thus, no freezing warnings have been issued. Even if you are not under a freezing warning, it will be a cold forecast (20s & 30s).
