First Tropical Storm Of The Season Forms In Eastern Pacific

Tropical Storm Aletta become the first system to develop into a tropical storm this year. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph early Tuesday with additional strengthening forecast during the next 36 hours. A gradual weakening trend will likely occur thereafter. The storm is far out over the Pacific and is not posing a danger to land. Aletta was located about 640 miles south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, on Tuesday morning and is moving west-northwest near 9 mph. The forecast track will take the storm far out to sea over the next few days.
