It isn't unusual to see hot temperatures in Phoenix, Arizona but it seems like the thermostat has been turned up a bit higher lately. Temperatures have been close to the record high of 115° over the past couple of days. Overnight lows haven't dipped below 90° for the past four days. According to the National Weather Service, Phoenix has had eight days of temperatures above 110 degrees so far this season.
Government health services and church groups are making an extra effort this week to help homeless people keep cool and reach out to those who are homebound. Churches are asking their congregations to check on friends, family and neighbors during extremely hot days.
